Real-time tournament platform
Matchmaking, live brackets and a spectator layer for an operator running thousands of concurrent sessions across weekly events.

Challenge
The operator’s tournaments ran on a system that could not keep brackets, scores and spectators in sync once concurrency climbed. Every peak event produced disputes, manual fixes and a support queue that grew faster than the audience.
Approach
We rebuilt the session and matchmaking services around an event-sourced core, so every result was derived from an auditable stream rather than a mutable table. A read-optimised layer served spectators and brackets independently of match traffic, and the whole system was instrumented for what players experienced: queue times, desync and reconnects.
Outcome
Peak events now run without manual intervention. Disputes are resolved from the event log in minutes, spectator load no longer affects matches, and the live-operations team works from dashboards that show the player experience rather than server health.
